The Pennsylvania Department of Health has announced the first round winners of Dispensary Licenses.
Of 280 applicants, 27 winning companies were selected.
Each of the Licensees may open 3 locations, though most of the winners have elected not to max out their footprints from day 1.
Initially, the State expects 52 dispensaries throughout the state, dispersed into 6 regions. These 52 locations have six months to become operational.
The Keystone State is a medical-cannabis-only state. Patients with one or more of the following qualifying conditions are allowed to use cannabis in the state, and only in pill or oil form (no smoking is allowed):
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) / AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain in which conventional therapeutic intervention and opiate therapy is contraindicated or ineffective
Sickle Cell Anemia
