A Little Early for an October Surprise

During several conversations last week at the CWCBE conference in New York, we said we had a feeling the President was keeping cannabis legalization in his back pocket for an October Surprise.

You know, the big bombshell announcement that can swing elections at the last moment? (here are a few examples)

Everyone we spoke to responded the same way - first, a look of "Aha!" as if a lightbulb were going on above their heads. [This made us feel clever.]

Then, every single person exclaimed the same thing: "Don't print that now! If you tell him, he might not do it!"

And then... BAM!

"Trump says he is likely to support ending

blanket federal ban on marijuana"

We swear we didn't tell him!

Maybe, just maybe, on this day in 2018 the President of the United States indicated he might (kick the AG in the nuts and) support the bipartisan bill sponsored by Senators Cory Gardner and Elizabeth Warren called the ‘Strengthening the Tenth Amendment Through Entrusting States Act’’ or the ‘‘STATES Act’’.

[Genius acronym, btw... just saying...]

When asked about it by reporters, the President responded, “I support Senator Gardner, I know exactly what he’s doing. We’re looking at it. But I probably will end up supporting that, yes.”
